How Creteform Construction Finishes Concrete Driveways

How Creteform Construction Inc. finishes concrete driveways is explained in detail here. After the forms, rebar, gravel, and wire mesh have been installed. Note it is very important that we check all the grades of the driveway, and install grade stakes to assure a uniform thickness of the concrete. We will order the concrete for your driveway. The concrete truck will pull into the back of the driveway and we will start pouring the concrete into the forms. As this is being done, expert installers here at Creteform Construction will start to screed the concrete. Screening the concrete in a driveway is a process of utilizing a 2 x 4 and a sawing motion to smooth the concrete out. During this process, we will make sure that the grade is followed, and utilize grade stakes to ensure the proper thickness of the concrete. Once all of the concrete has been installed in your new driveway, and we have screened the concrete out, we will start the finishing process. Finishing concrete properly will assure the longevity of your concrete driveway in Northern Virginia. The next step is to take a magnesium bull float and smooth out the screed concrete. After your concrete driveway has been floated with a bull float we will go to work with a magnesium hand trowel to further smooth out the concrete. Once the concrete starts to set up we will take steel trowels and further smooth the concrete bringing up the cream. The cream in concrete is primarily made of Portland cement and concrete sand. Timing is so important in the final step of finishing the concrete. This timing is when the concrete is ready to be broomed to give the concrete the nice fine broom finish everyone is looking for. The following day we will cut in the control joints in your new northern Virginia concrete driveway. The National Concrete Association recommends contractors cut control joints every 8 to 10 feet. Installing control joints will make sure that we show the concrete where to crack. After the control joints have been cut we will remove the forms, and backfill the areas where the forms were placed. We recommend that you do not park your car on the driveway for a week so that the concrete can gain the strength necessary to support your driveway.
